Melissa has teamed with The Horsemanship Dentistry School to develop a group of horses that will become available to the students in training as well as graduates wanting to join the mentorship program. The school needs your help to preserve the kind of equine dentistry we have all come to know as being in the best interest of your horses. These students have enrolled because they too believe in doing what is in the best interest of the horse.

There are three requirements for the discounted price of $125 per horse.

First ~ Your horses need to be located within 4 hours drive time of Palm City Florida.  Contracts and logistics excluded horses located in zip codes 33411, 33414, 33449, 33467, 33470 and any farms north of the northern Ocala area (south of Gainesville).

Second ~ You agree to help us expand this practice so that we will eventually have enough horses available to help students learn Horsemanship Dentistry. You will be agreeing to help by:

  1. Using your social media presence to talk about us and the school.
  2. Help distribute the Horsemanship Dentistry newsletter to friends, feed stores, tack shops and other horse professionals.
  3. Give us 3 names, phone numbers and email addresses for us to contact about Horsemanship Dentistry.

Second ~ You agree to allow a student or graduate to come to your farm with direct supervision of an instructor to learn all of the following:

  1. Effectively communicate with horse owners.
  2. Quickly connect with horses using horsemanship skills to create a willing partnership.
  3. Introduce their hands into the horse’s mouth and feel the teeth before and after the instructor floats the horse.

Students will NOT float your horses on this program. We will ask you if you are willing for the student to actually perform the float on one of your horses with direct supervision of the instructor. THIS IS OPTIONAL AND NOT REQUIRED FOR THE $125 FEE.

The Horsemanship Dentistry School Ambulatory Service is operated by Melissa Buday, a certified graduate and an instructor at The Horsemanship Dentistry School.

Melissa provides equine dentistry using the horsemanship skills you are looking for and many have come to know as the gold standard of Horsemanship Dentistry.

Yes an instructor is always present in the barn and observing the student. During the practical training phase of the student, Dr Tucker and Melissa Buday will be present. During the internship program, Melissa Buday will be the supervising instructor.

Instructors will always palpate before and after and will make sure the finished job is perfect.

Every horse will be evaluated by the instructor before the student is allowed to enter the stall. This is for the safety of everyone.

When safe, the student will be allowed to connect with the horse and introduce their hand into the mouth and palpate all the cheek teeth.  As part of the discounted floating price, you will be giving permission for the student to enter the horse’s mouth with their hand with an instructor present.

When the owner agrees and the instructor feels it is safe, the student will be asked to float about 2 to 3 horses a day, usually one in the morning and one again at the end of the day. This is very physical work and student’s stamina can’t do more than this.

The instructor will ask you when the appointment is made if you have a horse you would be willing to have the student work on. You will not be asked again when we are there and will respect your decision to not allow the student to actually work on a horse.

Because you have signed up to be a part of the teaching program, if we do not have a student and the wait for one is more than 1 week then Melissa will include you in her daily calls around Florida at the reduced price.

The school is trying to build a teaching pool of horses and clients to help preserve this style of dentistry. We will still expect you to help us build this group of horses by using social media, distribute printed material and offer up to 3 names, phone numbers and email addresses of other horse owners you want to know about Horsemanship Dentistry.

We love horses that are more challenging as this helps our trainees grow their horsemanship skills. Each horse will be evaluated as an individual and a decision will be made if your horse will be a good learning experience for our trainee or if your horse would be a good one to watch and see how an instructor works with your horse to gain a willing partner.
